Surviving a Pandemic in America

A Gathering, Economic, Bipartisan, and Melanin-Skinned People’s Safety DROUGHT

  1. Food: Purchase groceries in bulk and create time-conscious meals. Conserve resources by signing up for nourishment assistance programs. (EBT SNAP/Cal-Fresh/Food-stamps)

  2. Shelter: Find monthly rate deals in temporary housing facilities such as Air B&B establishments (bed and breakfast shared spaces in transformed single-family homes.) Depending on the wait-list, determine what Section-8 (Affordable Housing) options are available.

  3. Health: Exercise outside or indoors using fitness trackers, meditate, incorporate yoga and get adequate sleep. Drink liquids and avoid substance abuse for either stress-management or social situations, as stimulants/depressants are not necessities.

  4. Income: Student loan reimbursements/refunds, interest built from previous high-yield savings accounts or 401K investments, and previous job opportunities (especially if they are of the “essential employee” status.)

  5. Education: Lifetime learning opportunities afforded through student loans (FAFSA), online opportunities for credential maintenance, articles, film, and literature.

  6. Community Connectivity: Protest injustice by being aware of privilege, living for God and self (not the approval of others), living/working/playing with those of different ethic backgrounds, telling stories, traveling to places where everyone may not look like you, sharing images of broken stereotypes, and being considerate of future generations by leaving a legacy that will help them have freer minds. Utilize tools such as: social media, texting, email, blogging, podcasting, talking, and video conferencing.

  7. Hair, Skin, Nails: incorporate natural at home products (utilizing DIY how-to videos if necessary.)
